Privacy Policy

In short

The tools on this site run inside your browser. When you open a blot image or any other file in a tool, that file is processed on your own device and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. We have no way to see it, and nothing is stored once you close the tab.

The website around the tools is an ordinary website. It keeps server logs, it uses analytics to understand which pages are useful, and it shows advertising — and analytics and advertising use cookies. This page explains both parts precisely, because the difference matters.

Files you open in the tools

Every tool on PYMtools is a self-contained page that your browser downloads and then runs locally. Image analysis, calculations, and results are all produced on your device. There is no upload step and no server-side processing.

You do not have to take our word for it. Open your browser’s developer tools (F12), switch to the Network tab, and use a tool normally. You will see the page and its fonts being downloaded from this site, and no request carrying your file. The fonts are hosted on our own server, so the tool itself makes no requests to any third party.

Because nothing is stored, we cannot recover your work, and we cannot see what you were analysing if something goes wrong. Export your results before closing the tab.

Information the website collects

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard web server logs when a page is requested. These typically include your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, your browser and operating system version, and the referring page. They are used to keep the site running, diagnose errors, and detect abuse such as automated attacks. They are not used to build profiles.

Security

We use security plugins that record failed login attempts and blocked requests, including the IP address involved. This is limited to protecting the site’s administration area and is not connected to ordinary visits.

Analytics

We use two analytics services to understand which pages and tools are actually useful:

  • Google Analytics 4, via the Google Site Kit plugin. It records which pages you visit, roughly where you are, your device and browser, and how you arrived. Google acts as our processor for this data.
  • WP Statistics, which runs on our own server and stores basic visit counts in this site’s own database rather than sending them to a third party.

Neither service records what you do inside a tool. We deliberately do not use session-replay or screen-recording analytics anywhere on this site: a service that reconstructs what was on your screen has no place on a page whose entire purpose is that your images stay on your device. Page-level statistics are enough to know which tools are worth maintaining.

Advertising

This site shows advertising through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, to limit how often you see the same ad, and to measure ad performance. In some regions and configurations, these ads are personalised based on your prior activity across websites.

This processing is carried out by Google as an independent controller, under Google’s own policies. You can review and change what Google uses for ad personalisation at myadcenter.google.com, and read how Google handles data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Industry-wide opt-out tools are available at optout.aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent message appears before non-essential cookies are set, and you can change or withdraw your choices at any time through the link in that message.

Advertising is what keeps these tools free. It gives advertisers no access to anything you open in a tool, because that data never leaves your device.

Messages you send us

If you use the contact page, we receive what you send: your message, the email address you provide, and anything you choose to include. We use it only to reply and to fix the problem you are reporting. Please do not send confidential, patient, or otherwise sensitive material.

Cookies

The tools themselves set no cookies and use no browser storage. The cookies on this site come from the analytics and advertising services described above, and WordPress may set a cookie if you log in as an administrator. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the tools will continue to work normally if you do.

Legal bases and your rights

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site for server logs and security records, on your consent for analytics and advertising cookies, and on our legitimate interest in responding to correspondence for messages you send us.

You have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to processing, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. If you are in California, you have comparable rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know and to delete. We do not sell personal information.

To exercise any of these rights, write to us through the contact page. It helps to include enough detail for us to locate the relevant records, since we hold very little that identifies anyone.

Retention

Server logs and security records are retained for a short period as part of normal operations and are then rotated out. Analytics data is retained according to each service’s own retention settings. Correspondence is kept only as long as needed to resolve the matter it concerns.

International transfers

Google, which provides the advertising and analytics on this site, is based in the United States and may process data outside your country under its own safeguards. No data from the tools is transferred anywhere, because none is collected.

Children

These are research tools intended for professional and academic use. They are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If we change how this site handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top. The claim that your files stay on your device is a design property of the tools, not a policy preference — if a future tool ever needed to send data to a server, that would be stated clearly on the tool’s own page, before you used it.
